The South African Bureau of Standards today certified SA Taxi as being fully compliant with the required standards of ISO 9001.
Most ISO standards are specific to a particular product, material, or process. However, ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) are "generic management system
standards". Generic in this case means that the same standard can be applied to any organization, large or small, irrespective of what its produces, from any sector of activity, and whether it is a business enterprise, a public administration, or a government department.
SA Taxi CEO Martin Bezuidenhout said “The fact that SA Taxi’s systems and processes have passed the rigorous scrutiny of the ISO certification audit gives us comfort that we are able to comply with all the requirements pursuant to offering a world class financial service to taxi owners that ultimately ensures that the 19 million taxi commuters are able to travel safely on the roads of South Africa. “
ISO 9001 contains a generic set of requirements for implementing a quality management system, which in essence is a set of;
A set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business,
- A set of monitoring processes to ensure that they are effective
- A set of processes to ensure that adequate records are kept
- Systems to check output for defects, with appropriate processes to permit corrective action where necessary
- Regular reviews of individual processes and quality s ystems to assess their effectiveness
- And processes to facilitate continual improvement
