Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

1

What are my waiting periods for cover to commence?

There are no waiting periods. Your cover starts the moment you pay your first premium.
2

How long does it take for my claim to be finalised?

It depends on the extent of the damage. We authorise claims on average within 5 days of claim registration.
3

May I insure more than one vehicle?

Absolutely. You can combine vehicles onto a single policy or cover them across multiple policies to manage cashflow.
4

What rewards/incentives do I get for being a client?

We have a rewards programme available to all taxi operators. Please see www.sataxi.co.za for more information.
5

When and how often can I review my policy?

Your policy is reviewed annually, and you are notified in writing of the changes in premiums and benefits. It is common practice for insurers and clients to engage around the premium at this point. However, you are more than welcome to engage with us anytime there is a need to review your policy.
6

Can I opt for a flexible excess or excess waiver?

Absolutely. We have a flexible excess structure that allows you to tailor the policy to best suit your needs. Excess options range from R0-50 000 (max 30% of vehicle sum insured).
7

Can anyone else drive my vehicle besides the policy holder?

A driver that is employed by you either part time or full time, may drive the vehicle provided they have your consent and the necessary licences that must be valid at the time of the incident.
8

Must I note a regular driver?

This is recommended best practice as it ensures easy access for the driver to our roadside and accident assist benefits, where relevant.
9

Do I need to belong to a taxi association as I only transport school learners and workers from a specific company?

Yes.
10

Am I covered for 24hrs on the road because I have passengers who knock late after midnight?

This cover is included in our comprehensive insurance product. Assistance due to an accident is available 24/7 across all our vehicle insurance products.
11

Does having a tracker decrease my premium?

A tracking device is a requirement across most of our products and is already factored into the price we provide you. Where this is a requirement, clients are encouraged to regularly check the tracking units to ensure they are in full working order.
